The $125,000 race has attracted a field of 13 classy potential stayers, four of which are offering single figure odds in the betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Chris Waller’s nine-year-old galloper I’m Imposing is the firm favourite at $3.20 as he bids to retain his title.

I’m Imposing won the 2013 edition just a nose ahead of Travolta and is in great form after winning the Listed Festival Stakes (1500m) on November 29 before running a close second in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) last time out.

The gelding will carry the top weight of 59kg and jump from barrier eight with Tye Angland in the saddle for the third consecutive time.

Scream Machine ($5), Pelicano ($7), and Multilateral ($9) round out the single figure odds.

Six-year-old gelding Scream Machine finished outside the placings in both the Festival Stakes and Villiers Stakes over the past month and will need to overcome a wide start from barrier 13 with Blake Shinn in the saddle.

Tony McEvoy’s Pelicano returned to racing after 12 months on the sideline on December 13 for the Villiers Stakes, where he finished a commendable eighth. The gelding won the Listed Werribee Cup (2600m) last December but was forced into surgery following an injury. He will jump from barrier seven with Hugh Bowman to ride.

Waller’s second of three runners in the 2014 Summer Cup, Multilateral, rounds out the single figure odds. The six-year-old gelding will get an ideal start from barrier two with Ms Kathy O’Hara as hoop. The Listed Wyong Cup (2100m) winner in September has had a bad run of it lately, finishing third last in the Villiers Stakes last time out.

Paul Perry’s Ghost Protocol is the market mover after seeing his price slashed in half from $101 into $51.
